In May 2019, we hiked and toured Greece
Since we were already in Sicily, it seemed like a good idea to pop over to Greece for a few days. We began in Athens, and spent a very full day exploring The Acropolis with its Parthenon Temple, the new museum, and the Temple of Poseidon. Then on to the island of Mykonos, with its windmills and labyrinthine streets, and the island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites of the eastern Mediterranean.
Santorini was next, where we enjoyed a 9 mile hike from Fira to Skaros Rock to Oia. The trek across the crater was spectacular, with views forever. The houses and churches of white and blue were breath-taking!
We ended our tour on the island of Crete. We toured the old town of Rethymno, the fort of Heraklion, the monastery of Arkadi, and explored Knossos and its museum.
