6/12 – We rode the telepherique to the top of the Aiguille du Midi at 12,600 feet

It holds the record as the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world, from 1,035 m to 3,842 m.

                   

BELOW - We spent most of the day walking around, taking the lift to the very top,

crossing the bridge to the Italian side, and checking out all of the various platforms

                   

BELOW - We watched all of the alpinists on the Arete.

An arete is a thin, almost knife-like, ridge of rock which is typically formed when two glaciers erode parallel u-shaped valleys.

                     

BELOW - There were spectacular views of the Swiss, French, and Italian Alps
