April 10, 2005 - We hiked at the Pinnacles National Monument
The vineyards in the morning on our way to hike the Pinnacles
We headed straight for the caves.
Oooh it's dark down here.
There's light out there!
Hey, get off those rocks.
Yeah, it's cool, but let's head for the lake.
Let me know if you see any flowers out here
Is this a trail through these rocks?
Quite a view from up here
There's the lake way down there
Okay, let's head back down to the valley
Gonna miss this place...
One last picture - watch out for that rock, Judith!
Pinnacles Hike March 23, 2010
We are trying something new. The pictures below are low resolution.
If you would like to see the high-res pics, they immediately follow the low-res pics.
Above - Hills of mustard Below - The High Peaks of The Pinnacles
Below - We started on the cave trail
The farther into the caves you go, the narrower and wetter they get, as they are fed by a waterfall.
At this time of the year, your shoes will be in about a foot of water for the last part of the caves.
You can choose to exit early and stay dry.
Below - The lake trail
Wildflowers everywhere!
The Pinnacles received its name from "rock spires and crags that are remnants of an ancient volcano."
There is some climbing to get to the top of the high peaks.
But what a view when you get there!
