October 6 – So sad to see Notre-Dame but amazing to see evidence of the work so far
in supporting the structure.
ABOVE LEFT - Watching the street below our hotel turn 90 degrees to allow a boat to pass on the canal.

ABOVE LEFT - Left is the gothic St Chapelle, built between 1242 and 1248 to house
the supposed Crown of Thorns. Right is the Palais de Justice,
built in 1776, home of the French Supreme Court.
ABOVE MIDDLE - The Metro helped us cover long distances.
ABOVE RIGHT - The Conciergerie, once a famous prison, was the last stop
for 2780 victims of the guillotine, including Marie Antoinette.

ABOVE RIGHT - Left - This memorial, built in 1808, commemorates the campaigns of Napoleon
Bonaparte. Right - the 3,300 year old Egyptian obelisk was positioned in the
center of the Place de la Concorde in 1836 on orders by King Louis Phiippe.
The obelisk once marked the entrance to the Luxor Temple.

ABOVE RIGHT - We ate dinner at Dessance. Fortunately we made reservations
well in advance. Their menu changes every day, and we had two choices for this day -
fish or vegetarian. We had a special seating which placed us in view of the kitchen
and allowed us to watch the preparation of all of the seven courses.
