September 19, 2018 - Moustiers-Sainte-Marie
We drove today with our friend Debra from Cassis to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
We wandered around the town and also planned our hike for tomorrow.
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, or simply Moustiers, is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence
department in southeastern France, a part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region
and considered one of the "most beautiful villages of France".
It lies at the western entrance to the Gorges du Verdon.
ABOVE LEFT - Welcome to Moustiers!
ABOVE MIDDLE - Our hotel for the next five days. We are on the top floor
with the balcony and the two windows that are closed right now.
ABOVE RIGHT - Just below the hotel
ABOVE LEFT - The waterfalls on the side of our hotel, just below our window.
We worried about sleeping with all the noise!
ABOVE MIDDLE - Another section of the falls alongside our hotel.
The river runs right through the middle of town
ABOVE RIGHT - The restaurant of our hotel
ABOVE LEFT - Beautiful begonias at Le Lavoir, a laundry area and fountain
that served the village's inhabitants in the 19th century.
ABOVE MIDDLE - Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.
ABOVE RIGHT - View from our favorite cafe
ABOVE - The view from our hotel. We plan on hiking up to this chapel on our "rest day"
