Monday, June 7, 2004 - Airport to Gallarate and Milan
We flew in to the Milan Airport and boarded a train to Gallarate.
We stayed at a hotel in Gallarate and visited Milan again by train.
The Duomo (Cathedral) in Milan is spectacular. It is the fourth largest church in Europe.
Begun in 1386, it wasn't finished until the early 1800's accounting for the strange mixture of styles.
It is built entirely of pink marble of Candoglia from a quarry 70 kilometers away.
The Rooftop tour was awesome. It's a forest of Gothic Spires.
We also visited the world's first shopping mall - the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
