9/24 - We left Fatima towards the Castle of Almourol, which is a medieval castle,
located on a small islet in the middle of the Tejo River. After lunch at the castle,
we cycled to Martinchel, a small village with a picturesque church and a great hotel.
We passed through a lot of small villages today. One was under massive restoration.
Below - lunch was at Almourol Castle
It is believed that the castle was constructed on the site of a primitive Lusitanian castle
that was later conquered by the Romans during the 1st century .
Below - Wendy purchased wax body parts at Fatima which she showed us.
Christian pilgrims who attend the shrine at Fatima in Portugal buy wax
body parts as part of a ritual of prayer for well-being and good health.
