Murten’s Old Town is full of picturesque medieval vaulted arcades and facades.

Murten has about 5000 residents. It is very quaint. Judith loved all of the flowers everywhere.

The town’s name is derived from the Celtic word moriduno, meaning “lakeside fortress”.

Murten is one of the best preserved of Switzerland’s medieval towns.

Murten is still encircled by its fifteenth-century walls.

The former fortified city has kept most of its ramparts and towers. We walked the ramparts.

The views of the town from the ramparts were great!

This small medieval town of Murten lies on the shore of a lake named after the town.
